Exams and Evaluations
Comprehensive exam is an evaluation of teeth, gums, head, neck and oral cancer screening. It is possible to have dental disease and have no warning signs before damage occurs. Oral cancer is one of the most curable diseases when it’s caught early. That is one reason why regular dental check ups are very important.
Vizilite Plus is the newest oral cancer screening technology available in our office in combination with conventional visual examination. We also provide attentive care for children’s teeth- from development to preventive care.
Cleaning and Periodontal Treatment
Your gums provide foundation for your teeth and stability for all of your dental work. Periodontal disease is a serious infection of the gums and other tissues surrounding your teeth. Left untreated ,it can lead to tooth and bone loss.
Treatment includes scaling and root planning, antibacterial therapy, periodontal surgery and maintenance.
Bleaching
Also called tooth whitening. It is a procedure that brightens teeth that are discolored, stained, or have been darkened because of an injury. It can be performed on most teeth, including teeth that have had root canal treatment.
Bleaching may be done completely in our dental office (known as chair side bleaching) or the dentist may dispense a system for you to use at home (home-use bleaching). If you are considering using over-the-counter bleaching products, please consult us first to ask about safety and effectiveness.
Implants
If you missing some of your natural teeth, we may recommend dental implants to replace the roots of the missing teeth and the implant crowns to rebuild your teeth in a beautiful and natural looking manner. Compared to other treatment options to replace missing teeth, implants with implant crowns offer a long-lasting solution for missing teeth and require fewer follow-up office visits. Dental implants also will help to minimize the amount of bone that will be lost in the areas of missing teeth. Preserving oral bone may help maintain your remaining natural teeth and natural facial contours.
We will evaluate you carefully with an examination and X-rays and will make specific recommendations to you about the best treatment to replace your missing teeth.
Filling and Sealants
Filling is a procedure that is used to treat teeth cavities. A dentist will remove the decayed portion of the tooth and then "fill" the area on the tooth where the decayed material once lived. Fillings are also used to repair cracked or broken teeth and teeth that have been worn down from misuse.
Most of us have had amalgam fillings (silver). These fillings were what we have called mercury fillings, because all amalgam fillings contained mercury and tended to blacken in color over time.
Composite resin dental fillings were created as an alternative to traditional metal dental fillings.
Bonding is a cosmetic procedure that can improves the appearance of teeth that are chipped, broken, cracked, stained, or have spaces between them. With bonding, tooth-colored materials are applied, or bonded, to the tooth surface. Bonding also is used to protect exposed tooth roots that result from gum recession and to fill small cavities. Bonding may not require to use anesthesia or drilling and can be completed in one visit.
Dental sealants are plastic coatings that are usually placed on the chewing (occlusal) surface of the permanent back teeth to help protect them from decay.Dental sealants can last many years. If necessary, it is also possible to place a new dental sealant on the tooth
Root canal treatment
Endodontics (root canal treatment, or RCT) is necessary when the pulp becomes inflamed or infected.
The pulp is a tissue inside the tooth that contains blood vessels, nerves and soft tissue.
If the inflamed pulp is not removed, the tissues surrounding the root of the tooth can become infected and an abscess can form, resulting in pain and swelling. Even if there is no pain, certain substances released by bacteria can damage the bone that anchors the tooth to the jaw.
Root canal treatment is essentially a debridement procedure to remove microorganisms and their end products, debris, and potential substrate from the root canal.
Endotherapy has high rate of success and good long-term prognosis.
With modern techniques and anesthetics, patients reported that they have remained pain free during the procedure.
Crowns and Bridges
Both crowns and bridges are dental fixed prosthetic devices, which are cemented onto existing teeth or implants, and can only be removed by a dentist.A crown is used to entirely cover or "cap" a damaged tooth. Besides strengthening a weakened or damaged tooth, a crown can be used to improve its appearance, shape or alignment. A crown can also be placed on top of an implant provide a tooth-like shape and structure for function.
A bridge may be recommended if you're missing one or more teeth. Gaps left by missing teeth eventually cause the remaining teeth to rotate or shift into the empty spaces, resulting in a bad bite. Bridges are cemented to the natural teeth or implants surrounding the empty space.
Porcelain or ceramic crowns or bridges can be matched to the color of your natural teeth. Other materials include gold and metal alloys, acrylic and ceramic. You’ll be glad to know that during the time your dentist is having you new crowns handcrafted, your smile will look and feel great with BioTemps, temporary restorations.
You no longer need to be embarrassed with the artificial look of conventional temporary crowns. In addition to beautiful looks, BioTemps also feel like natural teeth in your mouth.Extractions
Tooth extraction is the removal of a tooth from its socket in the bone.
If a tooth has been broken or damaged by decay a dentist will try to fix it.
But sometimes, there's too much damage for the tooth to be repaired.Wisdom teeth, also called third molars, are often extracted either before or after they come in. These teeth often get stuck in the jaw (impacted) and do not come in. They can irritate the gum, cause pain and swelling.
If you have a throbbing toothache, or you face gets inflamed or swollen, we strongly recommend seeking a dentist’s attention immediately.
Our office is among selected group of trained professionals who offer Simply Natural Dentures system for more natural looking full (and partial) dentures. They resist stains, they are stronger, last longer and fit more comfortably then typical dentures. Porcelain teeth can be selected for more natural looking dentures. These teeth give a natural appearance and are virtually indistinguishable from real teeth. Dentures look and are shaped like natural healthy tissue, they are also easy to clean.
Veneers
We understand that beautiful smile is an integral part of image, personality and public opinion. Today veneers are one of the most popular options to improve your appearance. The art of veneering the teeth has significantly progressed over the years.
Veneers are thin custom-made shells that are designed to cover the front side of the teeth. Made of tooth-colored materials, veneers are used to treat spaces between teeth and teeth that are permanently stained, poorly shaped or slightly crooked. They may also cover teeth that are chipped or worn. Veneers are made from composite resins, acrylic material or porcelain. Placing veneers requires just a few appointments.
Occlusal (night) guard
Many patients are unaware that they are grinding their teeth because it often happens while they sleep. They wake up with a headache, toothache or a sore face. In addition to causing discomfort, grinding can wear away or fracture tooth enamel and may eventually loosen teeth. Stressful situations, problems sleeping, an abnormal bite, and crooked or missing teeth may be responsible. Grinding is a common occurrence for many people at some time or another. If you suspect that you are routinely grinding your teeth, we suggest a night guard that can be worn while sleeping.
We offer custom-made nightguards from soft material to fit your teeth. The nightguard slips over the upper and lower teeth and prevents contact between them. In addition to providing cushioning, the nightguard relieves some of the pressure of grinding and clenching, which can damage delicate jaw joints.
